That is do-able. I do it all the time. There are various ways of distributing centrally sourced recordings around the house.

He was able to record TV shows with his Freeview TV card in his computer so he could record it to his hard drive and then record it to a disk.

Don't know if PVR's and desk top computers can do this now though. Thanks for your suggestions. I dont want to do it via a PC though, just direct transfer from old pvr to new one which I haven't yet bought. I'll call Humax and see what they have to say. Chris Frost Posts: 10, Forum Member.

The T is a standard definition recorder, so the files might not be encrypted which is usually the biggest roadblock to any file transfer attempts. That's good news. Not so good is the lack of any way to connect so kind of external hard drive. Without a USB socket and the appropriate bits of software in the machine to support external USB hard drives , then your options for file transfer are far more limited.

You've already said you don't want to use a PC for this, so that rules out opening the machine and making a direct connection to the internal HDD. That's only the first step down the road on that path. That's not a major problem as there are software interfaces that will handle an external Linux HDD on a Windows PC, but it's some extra work. This is a bit like doing a video-to-video transfer, but the recording is made to a receiving PC using the capture card to digitise the incoming signal.

Aside from requiring a PC, the other catch is that you'll be using composite video via the yellow RCA connector.
