If you have install discs for any apps that you want back on there, it is always better an option, as you keep a clean system, and then you can drag your pics, documents, music, movies, etc, from the external. After that, you can download any 3rd party apps fresh from vendors. You can still do that though next time you have a few hours free, and have a free from clutter new OS with even more free space. Remember TM isnt a bootable copy Just trying to do some of your hard yards in the hounding stakes 6string.

How should I install Snow Leopard? Posted by: Drew. Ordered the family pack today. How are you going to install? I have a clone of my current drive on an external drive and a Time Machine backup on a separate drive. Would it be wise to wipe my daily use drive clean and install Snow Leopard, then run migration assistant from the clone?
I'm running Leopard now, so Snow Leopard was bought at the upgrade price. Does Leopard need to be on the drive for Snow Leopard to be installed as an upgrade?
Re: How should I install Snow Leopard? Posted by: DaviDC. Since it's an update I think wiping your daily use drive clean might be a bit problematic. Why are you fretting over this? Just install it!
